Open data in the Public Administration

The open data portal of Italy's civil service has undergone a major overhaul.

The Agid (Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale - Agency for Digital Italy - http://www.agid.gov.it/agenda-digitale/open-data) announced that the open data portal of Italy's civil service, dati.gov.it, has undergone a major overhaul.

Ministries, Regional Governments and Local Administrations reorganised their operations to release datasets in a more rational and simple manner, allowing also non-specialists to navigate them. The goal is to improve the open datasets, comparing them with the world's leading portals, and foster the exchange of information with other countries. The portal dati.gov.it (the link is external) is constantly updated with new functionalities inspired by the feedback received from users.

The March 3 meeting of Italy's Council of Ministers approved the Digital Growth Plan, which defines open data as an “enabling platform” to drive innovation and administrative transparency.
